What Happens During a Solar Site Survey?

A solar site survey checks your roof condition, shading, structural strength, and electricity usage so installers can design a system that fits your home.

A solar site survey is a free, on-site visit where an engineer inspects your roof, checks for shading, reviews your electrical setup, and looks at your past electricity bills. It is the first of the six steps in the installation process and directly shapes how your system will be designed. In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Tripower carries out this survey before any proposal is issued.

Roof and Structural Assessment

  • Roof material, pitch and orientation are checked, since these affect mounting method and panel output.
  • Structural condition is inspected to confirm the roof can safely carry the mounting structure and panels.
  • Available space is measured to work out how many panels can fit and where.

Shading and Sun Exposure

The surveyor identifies obstructions such as water tanks, neighboring buildings, or trees that could cast shadows during peak sun hours. Since Islamabad and Rawalpindi get strong summer sun, positioning panels to avoid shading is one of the biggest factors in long-term output.

Electrical Load and Consumption Review

The survey also reviews your recent electricity bills and appliance load to size the system correctly. This is where the target system size — say a 5kW system producing roughly 550-750 units a month — gets confirmed against your actual usage pattern, rather than guessed.

What Happens After the Survey

Findings from the survey feed directly into the custom system design and the formal proposal. If the survey uncovers issues like a weak roof section or heavy shading, the design team adjusts the layout or recommends a fix before installation moves forward. Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a site survey take?

Most residential site surveys take about 30-60 minutes on-site, depending on roof size and complexity.

Is the site survey really free?

Yes, Tripower's site survey is free and comes with no obligation to proceed with installation.

Do I need to prepare anything before the survey?

Having a recent electricity bill on hand and roof access ready helps the surveyor complete the assessment quickly and accurately.
